Jason Priestley: A Memoir (2014)

I wasn't really expecting much with Jason Priestley: A Memoir and really had no intention of checking the book out. But the book was available when nothing else was present. Since I was a fan of Beverly Hills: 90210, I thought I'd give it a shot and look forward to getting some dirt about the entire cast that made up one of my favorite shows at the time it was on. Sadly, nothing in the book ever materializes as sensational. Other than Jason recounting his first plane trip with Shannen Doherty and her diva attitude early on in the book, it was all "down hill" from there.  It's not that the book was bad, it just didn't illuminate much about Jason at all.

The guy is a good actor and he has done some stuff that I really liked. But he never goes into any kind of detail about 90210, Tombstone or even Tru Calling. He mentions them and then he moves on to the next thing. The other thing that kind of annoyed me is that there is no distinct voice and I think a lot of it had to do with the fact that each Chapter in the book averages 1-3 pages long. That's it. How can you expect to have a voice if that's all one is willing to write about the topic at hand? If one doesn't expand the page count, then all you are left with is nothing more than a laundry list of what you have done rather than engaging stories about them. I say this is definitely a Skip and even fans of the aforementioned shows are sure to be disappointed as I was.
