Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology Up until I read
Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, I didn't realize just how little I knew about one of the most controversial "religions" ever. Sure, I knew all the jokes and what the public perception was, and I thought I knew what everyone else knows. But reading
Leah Remini's book was definitely an eye opener. I came away after reading the book, scratching my head in trying to make sense of it all and how so many people can literally 'buy' into this religion with overwhelming evidence that it's not what it appears to be.
Leah's story is fascinating to read, from the first page to the very last. She doesn't minced words and goes for the jugular in laying out all the policies she and everyone else have to abide by, warts and all. When I say there is so much evidence staring people in the face about what this religion purports to be, just look at the names they come up with for whatever it is they are trying to ascend to. It sounds like it was written by a science fiction writer.
The big thing about
Leah's book of course is dishing on
Tom Cruise and everything leading up to the "Wedding of the Century".
After what
Leah spills on the pages of her book,
Tom comes across even nuttier than I ever thought possible. Talk about a whack job. The sh*t that goes down during the wedding with regards to
Katie Holmes daughter was f*cking bizarre to say the least. All these high ranking Scientologist acting and behaving like kids at a frat party was also something I didn't see coming given how they are always about maintaining their cultivated image to the public at large. The biggest offender was none other than the leader of the church himself:
David Miscavige. Yes, the book also dives into the whereabouts of his wife
Shelly who to date has not been seen or heard from in 7 years. I won't go into detail about the physical and mental abuse that the church inflicts on offenders which is also addressed in the book. That much I already knew. If you are looking for juicy, tell-all book, this one fits the bill. Very fast read. Definitely worth checking out from the
Library. FYI, I don't think Shelly is alive in spite of a "Detective" stating that he got confirmation to her whereabouts. The dude is on the Scientology bankroll. He will say and do anything to get closer to whatever they worship in there.
