Writing Movies For Fun and Profit
« on: August 05, 2014, 06:20:38 pm »
Finally picked this up from the bookstore a week ago, and it was worth the cover price.  It's sort of a half-how to guide and half anecdotal book about the Reno 911 guys' career in movies, and it's weird because it's both hilarious and kind of depressing.  There's even a whole chapter about how Herbie Fully Loaded came about and how it just fell apart as they worked on it.  The failures are real interesting, but if you want to write, then they're very depressing because you think "this could happen to ME" and your career could be over like that due to circumstances totally out of your control.

Worth a read for sure (I finished it all in a day, though I didn't read the whole treatments of Reno SOS or their other projects, even though I guess I should.

I just did a search in my Library system. No dice. Will check again down the road, but it's not likely to ever make its way into the system given that the book is 2 years already. It sounds like a good read. If I can get a used copy for cheap on eBay, I'll go that route.
