Pretty good rundown of more cliched movie posters. You know what's funny, when I first got into Photoshop and I was creating my own Posters from stuff that I had written, I instinctively used a lot of these styles. They get embedded into your psyche over the years and it's hard to break free from them because it's all we see. I really can't see anything beyond these most cliched styles. Some work, some don't and some should never be used.

A bit more in depth in how and why this particular poster is designed as such.

Chuck TV Promo Poster (Comic Con 2009)

One of my favorite Posters. I just don't have a f*cking clue who did this and I can't find anything online regarding information to put my mind at ease. Ugh!

All very creative. The last one is probably my fav.

2014 is coming to a close, which means there are only a few more days left in the 35th anniversary of Ridley Scott‘s Alien. We recently pronounced the sci-fi masterpiece the director’s best film and there weren’t many arguments about that. Not only did the film create a star and a franchise, it set the standard for what sci-fi horror could be. The film’s designs and environments set a standard for what fans could expect from other films. Visually, Alien is just about as iconic as a movie can be.

Visuals are where the Poster Posse lives. The online poster collective has been making posters for all kinds of releases over the past year or so. To wrap up 2014, they’ve made at set of 35th anniversary Alien posters. Check out a few of our favorites below.

Honest Movie Posters

Quote
It seems like everyone has something to gripe about with this year's nominations for the 87th Academy Awards (except for maybe the nominees themselves), and we even looked at some of the most egregious snubs along with the pleasing surprises from this year's field of honorees. But rather than gripe about the nominations, The Shiznit (via The Playlist) took aim at most of the big players this awards season and gave them honest movie posters. American Sniper, Selma, The Theory of Everything, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Foxcatcher and more all get skewered. Love or hate the movies, these are clever.

Hahahaha. Those posters were great. I didn't even have to see them to know that they were on the money there.
