Jim Lee and Geoff Johns Interview (ABC News)

It's finally here. The first issue went on sale at 12:01am last night. I didn't know comic book shops would do something on par with Record shops when selling Books like those of much awaited Albums. I need to go and pick up my copy today.

The ultimate in promoting your book is when Jim and Geoff literally go downstairs and feed everyone waiting in line to buy their book...pizza.

Picked up my copy of Issue #1 and read it. It was an interesting read, but it's too soon to tell how it's going to be in the long run. And of course the art is what I expected from Jim Lee. Actually, I expected a lot more in the way of characters. The first issue is basically all Batman and Green Lantern. I will definitely be picking up Issue #2, hopefully in one month from now. I hope Jim can keep a consistent schedule and they release the book on time. Next issue is Batman Vs. Superman. This should be good.

Justice League Of America #1 (re-boot) mini review !
« Reply #7 on: September 04, 2011, 12:52:18 pm »
First things first. I really don't like the idea of just dismissing 60 years of history for any character. It's disrespectful to fans who have loved a character for decades. Now..it could be that the reboot makes the character a little more interesting but usually it's the same character, with a re-telling of his origin and a new costume. It's just a big waste of time.

So I just finished reading the 1st issue of the new Justice League and it really wasn't very good, IMO. They "introduce" Batman, Green Lantern and Superman and they do it the tried and true way of all three getting in a ****ing contest to see who has a bigger dick. Granted, Supes doesn't show up until the end but he joins in on the dick swinging immediately.

The art by Jim Lee is nice, as little rough looking for him but still really nice and the story is just plain weak. Another Darkseid minion showing up in Gotham preparing the way for Darkseid. Batman chases him down and Green Lantern shows up because he was warned of an alien presence in Gotham. They trade quips:

GL: I'm more powerful than you. I got this.

Batman: Yeah but I'm smarter. Here's your ring back.

GL: Whoa. How did you do that ?

Batman: You weren't paying attention .

And then they face off, mean mugging each other.

It's like they turn into 12 year old boys. Ho-hum.

I might give the rest of them a shot but if this is the precursor to what the future brings for the DC Universe, it's gonna be sad.

Just my 2 cents. Peace out.

Justice League Of America

My review in link above. We kind of see it the same way, but I was actually expecting a whole lot more from Jim. He's had a lot of time to work on Issue #1 and it just felt a bit lacking. I will stick with the book for the time being. The only other books I will check out are both Batman books (Finch and Capullo) and possibly Batgirl.

Yeah, I saw your review after I posted mine. Not a big Finch fan so I'll pass on whatever he's working on. I'll check out Cappullo.

I've seen the first 2 issues of Finch's book and it looks good.

Justice League #1 - Comic Book Review (TotallyRadShow)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1LiguYSCB5A

Sheesh! I had no idea that the digital version of all the books were going to be the same price at $4 each. NOT worth it. If I had to pay that, I would prefer the actual book with the off chance that it would appreciate in value. With the digital version, that's never gonna happen. And from the interview above, my point is valid given that Issue #1 has already sold out and is heading to a 2nd printing. I should have gotten multiple copies. D'oh!

Justice League #2 comes out next week. But it's already shipping 2 weeks late. Not good for what is considered to be the Flagship title of the 52 Re-Launch line. Tsk tsk.
