War of the Worlds Model Kit
« on: November 30, 2012, 04:02:59 pm »
I don't collect much, but this came across my iPad the other day. Holy Crap, it's cool. I think I'll order it. Start getting a little bit of some movie paraphanalia down in the media room. I already have my movie map there.

War of the Worlds Model Kit

from entertainment earth

What this really needs to finish it off, and too server more than one purpose is a glass bubble (shield and dust protector). Not sure where to find one and don't know what you would call it. Craft or kit stores?

I've decided to get this and go down the full blow kit path. There's enough youtube instructional video's to help me out and they have already figured out the barriers. I think I'm going to go as far as buy the extra light kit from voodoofx. And apparently the instructions for the lights are uber comprehensive.

From all indications both kits are excellent and just need time, patience and TLC to do it right. I used to put models together all the time. This will be a cake walk and fun for this winter.

It's on hold.... money issues at the moment. I got the paints. But the kit is going to have to wait.

Me too. I'm a little unsure about the sprays. I have a copper color. I also have a 'wet' top coat to give it a more reflective surface.

If you guys want to help, I also thought about a 'dome'. I don't think it would be corny or too much, but a plastic dome to represent the invisible force field. It would act as a dust cover too  ;D

It would have to be plastic. Glass would just cost way to much. I've been trying to find something close but its not as easy to find as I thought. It needs to be a dome or a tube dome without a tip or flat or holes. I do want it to look decent, or I won't do it.

It's minimum diameter is 11". So it's  big. I've tried garden terrariums, glass dome displays. All too small. I do have a 'food display case' marked. Like the ones you see in grocery stores or a cafeteria to display food.
