I despise the idea of a character who's only there to support the main character.

The woman tends to be a workaholic with no time for love, as if you can't balance that.  Either that or she's a carefree manic pixies dream girl who lets the guy out of his shell.  Patton Oswalt did a great bit about "Hollywood Crazy" vs the real crazy chicks he used to go out with.  It's pretty brilliant.

I pulled up my notes from "This Is War" and forgot how much I hated that movie and all the issues I had with it, wanting to be True Lies but skimping on the action storyline and so on.
