Wrath of the Titans Wrath of the Titans is the sequel to Clash of the Titans. I didn’t think Clash did all that well at the box office, but I must be wrong for them to green light a sequel. I’m a fan of Greek mythology and so I tend to be biased. It is all fantasy, which I typically don’t care for, but there is just something about the chemistry of Gods, Humans and various fantastical creatures that all have explicit meaning and inter-relationships with each other. Stories that have been created and carried through the years. Hmmmm… like religion? Nah
When I was kid I liked all the Hercules flicks and even the lame attempts at mythology with the original Clash. But today, I think if I was to revisit them, my bubble would burst and just hang my head.
The technology today allows anything imaginable to be displayed on the big screen. The way the stories are meant to told. I think today’s Mythology movies do a decent job of getting something so old, to be interesting and relevant. Maybe relevant is too deep. It’s fantasy and provides the ability to escape as movie entertainment should do.
Wrath of the Titans kicks in with story and action. They don’t have to worry too much about setting up the framework, but they still need to spell out the why and who, because Mythology can be complicated. I thought the visuals were just stunning. Despite lots of reviews saying most of the actors seem to be calling in their roles, I disagree. There is a lot of conflict going on and I think we the audience buys into it. I didn’t see anything wrong with the acting.
Mythology movies are one of my guilty pleasures. I’ll probably sit down and watch them, if I should ever run across them. I’ve owned Jason and the Argonauts since I can remember and on occasion break it out. I don’t know if I’ll own these two, but hey, if I can get a good deal, yea, I’d pick ‘em up.
