10 Things I Hate About You

Trailer

10 Things I Hate About You is basically a modernization of The Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare. Boy meets girl. Girl rejects boy. Boy doesn't give up. Girl rejects boy. Boy goes all out. Girl has an epiphany. Boy gets girl. There's nothing new here. The concept is about as old as time. I love movies set in the world of High School and College. But this one is far from an instant classic. This isn't a bad movie. It's a passable flick in the genre that stars a handful of actors before they went on to bigger and better things. You have Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles headlining along with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gabrielle Union and David Krumholtz. I watch this from time to time only for Julia. But it's Krumholtz that makes you stick around, because you can't help but laugh whenever he is on the screen.

This is definitely worth a Rent if you're a fan of the high school genre. Just don't go into this thinking it's going to be on the level of The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles.

This is a guilty pleasure for me. I probably won't go out and seek it, but if its on, I'm sitting down to watch it.

Fun, fun movie.

Larry Miller, the Dad use to have a great stand up routine. If you get a chance, check out his 5 stages of drinking.
The character he plays in the movie is not to far removed from his stand up. Funny man.

Yeah, I knew him as a Comedian long before I knew him as an actor. I don't see him in movies as much lately.

The only other movie I distinctly remember is Pretty Woman in the sales.

What? There was a TV show of this?

Yeah, I vaguely remember the show in passing. Never watched an episode though.

Larry Miller had a cameo in "God Bless America" as the father of this stuck-up sweet 16 girl who had her own reality show.  Very brief, but might have been the most famous person in the flick (it was an awesome flick).  Outside of that, I haven't seen him in anything in ages either.

He needs to do more flicks. He's too funny to let his talents pass on by.

Agreed.

Checking his IMDB, I forgot he was in an episode of "Third Rock From The Sun, " which had Joseph-Gordon in it (of course), and I think that's the season that Larisa Oleynik (also from "10 Things") started playing his character's girlfriend.

I heard that Christopher Guest is doing a TV series so hopefully we'll get a nice constant dose of Miller in the near future.
