28 Days Later (2002)

Trailer

I was pretty sure I had seen 28 Days Later before. The first 15 minutes I remember very well, but after that it was all new to me. I'm thinking I may have been channel surfing and started to watch the movie and got sidetracked with something else. Anway, this was much better than I thought it would be. Since I'm currently on a Walkind Dead kick, I have to laugh at the same people that b*tch and moan about the lack of Zombies in that series and yet continually praise 28 Days Later as being the standard by which all Zombie flicks are now compared to. Hey, I'm not knocking the lack of Zombies in this movie at all, just pointing out just how stupid a lot of so-called fans are.

As for this movie, I do see a lot of similarities between the two. First it's about survival from the infected and then it's about surviving the human race that thinks they are entitled to make up laws for the sake of justifying their behavior. When Jim, Hannah and Selena are "rescued" by the military, I knew exactly what was going to happen and the excuse they would used to justify more or less turning them into sex slave to restart the human race. I couldn't help but think of Shane from The Walking Dead and his declining mentality. But then again, I think he was mentally unfit to begin with, but that's another story for another thread, which can be found at The Walking Dead (Season 2)

It was pretty cool to see Jim basically morphing into Rambo at the end and picking apart the soldiers one by one to save Hannah and Selena even if this was way out of character given that up to this point he hadn't exhibited any of the skills required to be successful at this. I'm glad they got what was coming to them and I look forward to the same thing happening to Shane.

Great movie and I highly recommend this. Even though this is a easy 5 Star rating, I'm not one to really Buy horror flicks on DVD. So I would say this is a definite Rent.

Both the movies are fantastic. 28 weeks really held itself up.
