It's been yeeeeeeeears since I last watched
Bandits on DVD. How long has it been? Long enough to be totally surprised to see that
January Jones was in this one. I had no idea. She's best known for her role in Mad Men now. By the small role she had in
Bandits, you could tell that she was new to the Hollywood game. She played the Hitchhiker. Anyway, I use to really like Bandits the few times I've seen this. But tonight, I think it's definitely a step down. It's not bad. It's just that I've seen it enough to know too much about it. This is basically a Heist/Road Trip/Romantic Love Triangle plot. Not really sure which of the 3 genres it wants to be. It's hyped as a Heist flick, but it comes off more as a forced Romantic Comedy at times.
Like I said, it's not bad and the cast of
Bruce Willis, Billy Bob Thornton, Cate Blanchett and
Troy Garity all work well together. But the movie just doesn't have legs to go the distance as a memorable one. Worth a
Rent and nothing more.
