Adventureland

Trailer

I had really high hopes for Adventureland because of all the praise that was heaped on it. Boy, the public mass at large doesn't know a bad movie from a good one apparently. This movie is WAY overrated. It's beyond overrated, it's just not a good movie at all. First off, none of the characters in the movie are even likable at all, especially Brennan (Jesse Eisenberg) who is suppose to be the guy everyone is rooting for. How can we root for him when he comes off like a  d o u c h e b a g  in the way he presents himself to chicks. He comes off like he thinks he is the bomb, but is very full of himself. You wouldn't get it from the title from the movie, but there isn't much adventure at all. This movie was totally misrepresented by the Trailer and Print Ads as being a comedy. Even the DVD cover tries to con you into thinking this is "funny" with the quote from the "movie critic" saying it's "Truly Hilarious". NOT!

There isn't anything funny about this movie. At it's core its a very  f u c k e d  up movie with everyone cheating on each other one way or another. A lot of games being played by everyone. Along with paper thin characters, the pacing of the movie is a chore to get through as well. On top of that, it's a poorly written film and the ending was all kinds of false. I just didn't buy it that they would get together after all that  s h i t  and that she would put out that fast after making a big song and dance about wanting to start a new life for herself and move on from being a home-wrecker.

I dunno. Just really disappointed in this movie from start to finish. There are 3 things that I did like about it though. Bill Hader, Martin Starr and the Soundtrack, which is  f u c k i n g  AWESOME! That's it. I can't recommend this for the movie, so this is a Skip. But definitely check out the Soundtrack for sure. 80's all the way!!
