As great as the
First Season was/is, they really elevate what a Sci-Fi show can be in
Season 2. Try and think of any other Sci-Fi series that touches up on hot button topics like Torture,
****, Abortion, Sex Trade, Racism, Election Rigging and Morality. It's one thing to use these themes to kick-start a plot, but it's another to use them in a way that makes you really think about what you would do in the same situation. Because anyone that has watched
Battlestar Galatica in the past, or any newcomer to the series that makes it this far, you are invested in the characters 100% and each topic throws a curve at you that makes you weigh the pros and the cons of what is happening and I love it for that very reason. It's why I think the series is so damn relatable for everyone. It may be set out in space, but the problems are still the same.
There are a lot of incredible episodes this season and some amazing performances. As I stated in my review for
Season 1, this is my 5th time through my
BSG DVD Marathon, and I'm amazed that it still leaves a very profound effect on me. I see these scenes coming a mile away, and yet, it still leaves me speechless and in a couple of instances, with tears in my eyes. When
Gaius comforts
No 6. on
Pegasus, or when the
Galatica Crew honors
President Roslin by naming a
Raptor after her or when
Admiral Adama finally kisses
Roslin, who walks away, seemingly to her eventual demise, it gets me every damn time. The
first Season ended with
Adama getting gunned down. The second season ends with the Human race being enslaved by the
Cylons. Is there a better way to end on a cliffhanger than that? Of course not. I highly recommend this season as a must-
Buy. Man, how I love
Battlestar Galatica!
