Big Nothing (2006)
« on: August 11, 2015, 12:39:23 pm »

I stumbled upon this in my On-Order section of the Library and decided to give this one a shot since Simon Pegg and David Schwimmer where in it. Added bonus was that Natascha McElhone was attached, although I didn't know it at the time when I picked up the DVD. I never bothered to check out any reviews about the movie, but in hindsight, I would have felt duped based on all the high praise this movie has gotten. If there is a case for not believing anything you read online, it's Big Nothing. The title of the movie is kind of ironic (maybe intentional by the film maker) because by the time you get to the final scene, the first words out of you mouth regarding this movie is that "....this was definitely a Big Nothing alright". The first 10 minutes while watching this, I kept asking myself why I'm even sticking around for this. But there is a moment that happens where suddenly you HAVE to stick around to see how this all ends. Unfortunately......nothing that happens on the way to the end is worth the time to get there. The scenes are extreme, ridiculous things that would never happen in real life, which in a way is kind of why I had to stay till the end. As a whole, it's very sloppy writing, filming and editing. A wannabe writer/director that fancies himself as Quentin Tarantino. Can't recommend this. Skip as you will be sorry to have wasted any amount of time on this with no rational explanation of.......oh, never mind. Just Skip it. Still scratching my head how and why a lot of people like this movie. There are plenty of other far superior films out there to spend your time on.
