Have you seen Black Sails? It's far from 'sexy'. Even the Keira Knightley look-alike on the show isn't what I would call sexy in the sense of flaunting it for the sake of flaunting. Sure, she has a couple of sex scenes, but it's not over the top for the sake of luring people to the show. So, I think you can still do your 'Sexy Pirate' story without comparisons. Also, I've never heard of anyone label Carribean as 'Sexy' either.
