Ever since Mac posted the original Pixels Short, I've been itching to see what they were able to do as a Big Feature Hollywood film. Yes, I wasn't able to escape the scathing reviews and how this was rated the worst film of 2015. In spite of all the negativity, I still had to check this out. Well, the reviews are spot on. The movie as a whole tanked for a lot of reasons, but it's not without it's charms. Anything involving iconic game characters on screen gets an A+ from me. There is nothing like seeing "real life" versions of games that had a profound impact on me as a kid coming to life. The best of course was Donkey Kong as the showstopper. But the Pac-Man and Centipede set pieces were damn cool to see play out as well.

My biggest issue with the film is how dumb the characters are. Some of the sh*ttiest dialogue I've ever heard people say come out of the mouths of Adam Sandler, Josh Gad and Kevin James. Peter Dinklage wasn't immune either, but I found him to be funny because he was playing against type. I wasn't expecting Shakespeare here, but I was hoping for a bit more seriousness given the fact that Sandler and company would most likely hold these characters to heart since they grew up in the 80's. Getting back to the characters, I love how they snuck in Missile Command, Space Invaders, Burgertime and of course Q-Bert. But.....eye candy alone can't save this movie. Can't recommend this to anyone unless they too grew up in an Arcade like myself. Skip.

Same here. Zero interest. I'll just hang onto the short for memories. Don't want Sandler and his crew tarnishing my thoughts.
