THIS is what the Batman mythology has been screaming for to be done right and where I think the Tim Burton films and subsequent films failed at. I'm a huge fan of the Adam West TV series, but I never bought into the campiness of Batman and Batman Returns. So I was very happy that Chistopher Nolan finally got it right with Batman Begins. It's dark, grimey, gritty and built to last. For years I had been saying that the best "Batman" film was The Crow because that's how I always envisioned what a Batman film should look and feel like.

In Batman Begins, we get more into the mind of Bruce Wayne and why he sets out to become the Cape Crusader. It's deeper and Christian Bale does a great job of conveying his anguish and guilt over what happened to his parents. That is sure to drive anyone insane, living with that kind of guilt for so long. It goes a long way to explaining why a grown man dresses up as a bat. I think the entire first hour is a great set up. Usually the set-ups in Superhero movies are boring because you're waiting to get to the good stuff. But his training and everything else that comes with becoming Batman was just as entertaining as the last half of the movie for me. Nolan did a fantastic job with the look and feel of the film as a whole and more specifically Gotham City. Watching this again just makes me want to bust out Batman: Arkham City and get sucked into that world again.

I highly recommend this as a Buy. I own the Two-Disc Deluxe Edition that also comes with the mini Comic Book inside. Definitely the one to pick up should you decide to buy this. Worth it.
