Blade: Trinity
Unrated Version

Trailer

Blade: Trinity is by far the weakest in the Blade Trilogy and my biggest issue with why I think the movie fails starts with Ryan Reynolds. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of his and like very few of his movies. He is just a bad fit for something that should be dark. His constant sarcastic-joke-a-minute is both tiresome and unfunny. It detracts too much from Blade himself. If Blade: Trinity were a TV series, this film would be looked at as a back-door Pilot. You know when the star is more or less relegated to the background and the new players are brought forward to highlight them and give them enough exposure to warrant giving them their own series. That's what Trinity has always felt like to me.

Another thing that I really don't like about the movie is the constant reminder of the "commercialization" of the Dracula brand. It's kind of breaking the 4th wall for me which always takes me out of the movie. Also, the scenes at the Dracula store with all the bobble heads and whatnot made it seem very much like I was watching something out of Scream by calling attention to itself about the history of a character. Also not good was killing off Whistler (Kris Kristofferson) again. But this time he doesn't even get past the 20 minute mark before he is toast. With him gone, leads to the revelation of his daughter Abby played by Jessica Biel. She wasn't bad at all. As a matter of fact, out of all the new characters, she was the only one decent.

Did not care for Parker Posey, Triple H, Natasha Lyonne or Dominic Purcell as Dracula. Just did not care for anything they brought to their characters, which wasn't much. A few good Special FX things, but nothing groundbreaking. Overall, this movie was just boring and a waste of time. Definitely a Skip. I really wish that David S. Goyer had used his original idea for the 3rd film set 50 years into the future with the world overrun entirely by Vampires, which would have had Blade playing a 'Mad Max' type of character. Woulda, coulda, shoulda. Sigh.

THE MOST DISAPPOINTING COMIC BOOK MOVIE SEQUELS OF THE LAST 10 YEARS

Rather than starting a new thread, I decided that I would post the link in the thread that I rated the worst of all the movies I have seen. Can you guess who the winner is? Blade Trinity takes the cake. It narrowly "beat" Superman Returns.
