Bound

Trailer

Sh*t man, it's been years since I've watched Bound. Not sure why I haven't gotten around to re-watching this sooner, given the fact that it's one of my all-time favorites in the Crime Genre and with good reason. First off, the cast is awesome with Jennifer Tilly, Gina Gershon, Joe Pantoliano, Christopher Meloni and John P. Ryan set in the world of the Mafia as things start to unravel with everyone with their eyes on the prize: $2.1 Million. Some interesting twist as Violet (Tilly) and Corky (Gershon) try to set up Caesar (Joe Pants) as the fall guy when they set in motion to steal the money from the Mob. But what really makes this a great movie is The Wachowski Brother's script as well as directing style, which they show a great flair for in how they set up their shots and the camera angles they use throughout.

I love The Matrix and how they pretty much rewrote the playing field with regards to the CGI landscape and giving the moviegoer enouh credit in being smart enough to follow a complicated story like The Matrix. I would like to see The Wachowski Brothers return to smaller films like Bound that don't rely so heavily on CGI. They can do a lot with so little. Not sure if we will ever see that happen again since they are a Brand Name, which means the Hollywood system wants more of the same, even if they haven't been successful lately. Maybe one day we will see a return to what made them great in the first place: Story, characters and twists.

Most people like to fixate on the Lesbian Sex Scene between Tilly and Gershon. Sure, it's hot, but the movie is so much more than that. In actuality, that scene plays such a small role in the movie it's almost non-existent. I highly recommend you Buy Bound if you are a fan of the Crime and Thriller Genres. Well worth the price of admission. This concludes my review and I'm guessing you never read this far as soon as I mentioned 'Lesbian Sex Scene' and started watching it immediately. Ha. 5 Stars out of 5.
