Breaking Bad

I've been wanting to see Breaking Bad since I first heard about it. I had every intention of watching this during it's initial broadcast. But like everything in life, plans always get derailed and I had a handful of other shows that I was currently watching which put this on the backburner (pun intended).

So, did the Pilot live up to the hype that has been building for Breaking Bad over it's entire run? Absolutely. I was always curious how the series got started and I thought the way they opened this episode immediately got you sucked into the world of Walter White (Bryan Cranston), the 'cook'. And then it rewinds 3 weeks earlier to basically gives us his "origin" story and how he became a 'cook'. In a nutshell, he just turns 50, faints and then finds out that he has lung cancer and doesn't have long to live. He is currently working 2 jobs, one as a Chemistry teacher at a High School and another job at a Car Wash. So it's clear that he has money problems, most likely from the fact that he has a 'Special-needs' son, which cost a lot more money. So, it's a no brainer that he would turn to something he actually knows (Chemistry) that he can turn a nice profit to take care of his family.

Well, that's the idea. But not everything goes by the book as its shown in the Pilot. Just a really good starting off point. I really like the character of Walter. He's not a bad guy. He's just a father and a husband that's been given horrible news and decides to help out his family....fast, before he expires. Nice angel by having his brother-in-law working as a DEA agent. That should have some good conflict moments for sure.
