Sheesh! Has it really been 13 years since Bring It On first came out? Where the hell did the time go? Look, Bring It On is not a movie to take seriously. The movie itself is riddle with cliches found both in High School flicks as well as Sports flicks. Also, the fact that this centers around Cheerleading should tell you that it's not meant to be anything more than lighthearted fun. And that's exactly what this movie is. It's a guilty pleasure, and whenever I come across it while channel surfing, I usually end up watching it till the end.

What's not to love? It's basically 90 minutes of eye candy with Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku and Gabrielle Union. I am partial to Eliza as I have been a huge fan of hers since her days on Buffy, Angel, Tru Calling and Dollhouse. I've always thought that this is a nice companion film to her other "Cheerleading" movie, The New Guy.

Mindless fun at its best. Definitely worth a Rent. For you fans of Buffy, there are a few other notable players that pop up in this one as well. Clare Kramer and Nicole Bilderback anyone? Yowzza!

Looked up those two girls, Clare Kramer sort of looks like the blonde American answer to Jenna Louise Coleman.

You know, I don't know if I've ever actually seen this movie all the way through.  I'm definitely familiar with elements of it, though (Eliza as the punk chick, the alleged stealing of the choreography, "cheer"-ocracy).   I remember another cheerleader movie, Fired Up!, where all the cheerleaders were gathered at camp to watch the movie and they were all lip synching with the entire movie.

I understand that the sequels don't have the charm of the original (and in fact are pretty much re-tellings), but really, where else could you go after the first one, right?
