C a s i n o

Trailer

If you have ever wanted to know what Las Vegas or more specifically what C a s i n o ' s  in Vegas are all about, just watch the first 45 minutes of C a s i n o  for a primer on everything you have ever wanted to know about or will ever want to know about Vegas. When it comes to the best movie set in and about Las Vegas, this is the Granddaddy of them all. It's shocking to think that this is the last movie that Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Martin Scorsese have done together. Think about it, they have not worked together since 1995! That's insane!!

When these cats work together, they don't just turn in a movie, they turn in a Epic showcase of acting and directing that becomes an instant classic that is talked about and studied the world over. Watching this one is watching lightening in a bottle. I love this movie and have seen it well over 20 times if not more. I never get tired of it. For me this is the 2nd greatest mob movie of all time. Do I really need to tell you what the 1st one is? Here's a clue....the same 3 people I just mentioned worked on it as well.

Anyway, watching the performances here was electric and even Sharon Stone didn't suck in this one. There is a reason why she was nominated for Best Actress here. But I will say there were a few scenes where she was clearly over the top with her emoting. So much so, I always detect a faint smirk that she knew she was taking it a bit too far at times. But still....she was great. But the real star of the movie was Pesci and De Niro. Just...wow. I really wish they would work together again, even if it was just in a comedy.

Martin is an amazing director and there are a ton of choice shots that I still see newer film makers ripping off in their own movies. They are iconic for a reason because the dude knows how to shoot a movie and is one of the greatest when it comes to dolly and tracking shots. A true master and a masterpiece of film making.

I highly recommend this as a Buy. I still need to pick up the Special Edition. I'm still hanging onto the bare bones DVD I picked up back in 1998. Ha. It's clear that I don't throw things out....no matter how old they are. Now, I bet you don't know what movie I'm gonna watch next........
