Wish You Were Here

Was somewhat surprised to see that Kathleen Turner has joined the cast as Sue Collini, Charlie's new Boss. I can't get over how much she has changed and her voice just throws me for a loop in how deep it has gotten over the years. I'm not at all surprised to see Jason Beghe show up on the series. It was just a matter of time before Duchovny would have his best friend on. But for me, the nicest surprise was seeing Diane Farr. Not sure if she is a regular for Season 3. I will just have to see for myself. I hope that she is. I miss my weekly dose of Farr sightings, first on Rescue Me and then later on Numb3rs. More please!!

The Land of **** and Honey

Already this season seems somewhat off. Karen has been in all of what amounted to a couple of minutes in the first episode and was a no show all together in this one. Also, Becca was barely in it, except at the end when she and Hank got into an argument and then it just ended. The **** fantasy with Charlie was just weird. I hope this is just a temporary misstep and that the show will find its footing and get back on track. Diane Farr does seem to have a recurring role for the season, so that was a plus for me.

Verities & Balderdash

Kathleen Turner is a  f u c k i n g  riot. Her being so hot after Charlie is bizzare and highly entertaining. And speaking of entertaining, the opening dream sequence that usually starts all episode courtesy of Hank was incredible, insanely HOT with Jackie (Eva Amurri Martino) giving the most awesome pole dance ever. Yummy!! And in other news, Rick Springfield cameos. My guess is that Charlie becomes his new agent. Once again, Karen is a scene that last less than a minute. What the hell is going on here?

F u c k  indeed! That's what Hank writes on the chalkboard at the very end when the 3 women (Felicia, Jackie and Jill) that he is messing around with in one form or another all decided to show up to his writing class....at the same time. I can only imagine what's gonna happen next. Jackie gives another award winning Pole dance....actually a lap dance and it rocked. So, it looks like Charlie and Marcy are getting back together. That or it's just a moment of weakness before they still head to divorce court.

Slow Happy Boys

Yay! Karen returns. Took long enough. I wasn't even expecting her to pop up at the end when Hank goes to pick up Becca from the airport. Season 3 seems to have found a home at Jackie's strip club Faster P u s s y Cat and I'm A-Ok with that. More please. I liked seeing a different side to Hank with his buddy Zloz coming out to visit him. We get a little insight into where Hank came from through the eyes of a 3rd party. Props to Stephen Root playing Sue's (Kathleen Turner) husband.

Glass Houses

This episode was FUNNY! And it's all because of Sue (Kathleen Turner). Just the way she is playing the character and how she talks to people has me in stitches, but she upped her game in this one. With Marcy in the middle of getting banged by Rick Springfield, Charlie doesn't know how to deal with this or what he should even do. So, leave it up to Sue to pull off her own "Meg Ryan" moment and come up with her own way of having a Big O.

Collini.....out!

Pretty cool to have Karen back for a full episode. Wheeeeeeeeee!!! Man, what the hell is up with Becca? She has turned into a holy terror. Very obnoxious and bratty this season. And so is Chelsea, who I can't stand either.

So Here's the Thing...

Another funny episode with Hank having to break up with all 3 of the women (Jill, Jackie and Felicia) that he is seeing and to do it all on the same day. The scene at the restaurant with Hank doing is "gay-Eddie Murphy" gag to embarrass former finance to Jill was particularly funny. But we the viewer never get to see Hank actually breaking up with Jill, so we are left in the dark of how bad she was sure to have taken the news.

Another standout scene was when Charlie and Peter Fonda fight to determine what agency he will sign with. I can only guess that Peter is playing himself because he was in "character" with the far-outs and peace-man one-liners.

The Apartment

Best. Episode. Ever. That was some crazy  s h i t  with Hank having to juggle all 3 of his recent dump-ee's. Throw in Charlie and Rick Springfield and you have a recipe for disaster. I knew it couldn't be that easy from the last episode to where Hank was free and clear. So, when each chick showed up unannounced at his place and had to hide each one from each other it was like an X rated Three's Company. Getting to the end was a riot. Who knew that when the  s h i t  finally hit the fan at the end that Becca would finally talk to Hank about.....anything. As for Dianne Farr's n u d e  scene. I'm pretty sure that was a body double because you never see the goods with her face in a long shot. All close up shots.

Mr. Bad Example

Above average episode. Coming off the insanity of the previous one it's not all that surprising that this one would feel like a slight let-down. Although both Rick Springfield was great here. Rick has really gone out of his way to demolish his squeaky clean image. That is if he ever was that. I'm sure he has done his share of blow being a rockstar and all that. But it's just interesting to see him portrayed in a different light.

Dogtown

Really great episode that's basically the Charlie and Hank show from start to finish. Really enjoyed this one. A drunk Charlie is a funny Charlie. I liked the set up where Hank tells Charlie what it means to him one time when Karen fixed him breakfast and the love it represented. So when the turnaround comes at the end of the episode and she makes him breakfast, we the viewer "get it" and it registers like a Atom Bomb.

Comings and Goings

This was kind of a weird episode. Hank having lunch with Karen, Jill, Felicia and Jackie should have been explosive. But everyone involved was very nonchalant with no animosity from anyone about Hank sleeping with all of them. Very unrealistic. And then it got weirder with the whole 'dueling at dawn' scene which was just....dumb. The only thing saving this episode was Charlie and Marcy who "get back together" one last time  with the news they got an offer on the house.

Mia Culpa

Now THIS was vintage Californication. The scene I have been for all season, actually the last two seasons, finally played out. With Mia back from her book tour, she, along with her "boyfriend" / Manager have decided to come clean about who actually wrote  F u c k i n g  & Punching. This little information would of course directly affect Hank, Karen and Becca. So, I thought the scene that plays out was better than anything I could have created in my head. Having it unfold to the tune of Elton John's Rocket Man was pretty damn good. Perfect, actually. Mia's Manager is a douche, using her to captitalize on the infamy the truth is bound to generate for her. This was by far the best episode of Season 3 and how you do a Cliffhanger. Can't wait to check out Season 4.

Californication (Season 3)

I enjoyed Season 3 for what it was. As fun as most of the episodes were, it didn't feel like Californication in the sense like Season 1 and Season 2. It wasn't until the Season Finale did it click in the same manner. Although Season 3 was a bit weaker than the first two, but it's still a worthy addition to the series itself. This is definitely a Buy for sure.
