Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle - Special Edition

Trailer

I've owned both DVD's for years, but I do believe this is the first time I have ever watched Charlie's Angels and Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle back to back. I think. Anyway, I wasn't a fan of Full Throttle when I saw it in the theater. I thought it was just okay the first time I watched it on DVD. But having just watched these two in succession, I gotta say that I am of the minority when I say that I actually like Full Throttle better than the first. It's not as bad as most people will have you believe.

Yes, the sequel is waaaaaaaay over the top when it comes to Set Pieces and Characterizations. But there was enough variety throughout the movie to actually hold my attention, which the first one does not do for me. Also, props for some well-placed cameos (P!nk, Jaclyn Smith, Bruce Willis, Carrie Fisher,Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) in this one a leg up on the first one.

If this isn't incentive to at least check out Full Throttle, I've got one word for ya: Hot. There is plenty of eye candy in this one to entice even the most jaded. Cameron Diaz in a Bikini surfing. Cameron, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu in their  P u s s y c a t  Dolls dance segment. And Demi Moore in pretty much everything else since she shows off plenty. Gotta show off the post-baby bod that this role generated when the movie first came out. Yummy.

This is definitely worth a Rent, but I'm glad I own the DVD now. So, suck it!!

Quote
Bill Murray and Lucy Liu didn’t get along on the set of the first Charlie’s Angels. Bill was always uncomfortable around her and nobody knew why until one day a huge fight erupted between the two while they were filming a scene. People Magazine reported the Bill ‘loudly complained about her technique.’ People was being gentle.
What actually transpired was much more intense. Bill Murray stopped a scene in progress and pointed to Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu saying in order, “I get why you’re here, and you’ve got talent….but what in the hell are you doing here. You can’t act!” At that, Liu blew her lid and attacked Murray, wildly throwing punches. The actors had to be separated to opposite corners of the room while they lobbed verbal hand grenades at each other.
With a Columbia Pictures gun to their heads, both actors would publicly downplay in incident but insiders know better. Bill Murray would not do any sequel with Liu attached and was subsequently replaced by Bernie Mac.

For those that have always wondered why Bill Murray opted out of the sequel, I give you the quote that has been floating around online for a long time. I still don't know if this is actual fact verbatim, but when the news first came out when Full Throttle was in production, I did hear a lot about the animosity between Bill and Lucy as being the sole reason. So, chew on that info as you wish............

Just had to give a shout out to Bernie Mac. I thought he did a decent job, even though he really was held back and not given a lot of room to play with.
