My Name Is Earl (Season 2)

Trailer

None Available

I always enjoy My Name Is Earl and Season 2 was good, just not on the same level of Season 1. I think they kind of 'jump the shark' a bit by messing with perfection to soon with the established premise with regards to a few "special" episodes that were more about fan service rather than keeping the status quo. Don't get me wrong, I actually like these special episodes such as the one that is basically a COPS episode and the inside joke episode that pays tribute to the movie Rudy. This season also saw a lot of guest stars from some big and no so big name celebrities. I just think it was too soon to go in this direction when they should have stuck with what worked in Season 1. This is still a definite Buy regardless.

Sadly, this concludes my Earl Marathon. I never bought Season 3 or 4 on DVD and I thought that my Library would have them for me to get. They don't have Season 3, but they do have Season 4 though. I will keep an eye out for Used copies that I can get from eBay and will continue the marathon at a later time.

I'm trying to remember... I don't think I watched since halfway past season three, but I share your sentiments about them screwing with the formula.

I will say in regards to season three, that's the season where Earl went to jail (if I recall correctly) and I thought that the show would just dive (I'm not a big "prison" guy), but the show actually pulled it off well, it NEVER occurred to me that a lot of the people Earl wronged would BE in jail.  And the warden-- brilliant casting.  But that was the season of the writer's strike, which is about where I stopped watching TV regularly since everything was reruns and cheap reality.  Strike actually did me a world of good in terms of how I consume media.

I actually don't remember much that happens in season two, I guess it's time I do a marathon of the series and finally end it.  I'll let you know how the later seasons hold up.

I watched Earl when it aired, so I already know what Season 3 and 4 offer up. I remember liking everything with the exception of Alyssa Milano's role. She wasn't bad, it was just  that the show kind of went off the rails a bit too much and was nothing like what they had set up with Season 1. I still plan on picking up both seasons on the cheap when they are made available on eBay. I actually tried last month to pick up both, but the sellers were asking 'New Prices' for Used content. Pass. I can wait it out.

Man after my own heart.  All I remember about Milano was her policewoman outfit in the conjugal visit room (and the posters in the background syaing "Enjoy yourself-- you earned it!")
