Living the Dream

They added a lot of road blocks for everyone to play off this season. Dexter is suffering from sleep deprivation from having to stay up with his new baby at all hours of the night. Angel and Maria are now getting it on. And Lundy (Keith Carradine) pops back into Miami and more specifically Deb's life. This should be a good season. It's already started off with another coup getting John Lithgow to portray this seasons Serial Killer: The Trinity.

This episode was good in setting up arcs for the remainder of the season, but it was a bit on the slow side compared to the last 3 Season premieres. It's not how you start a season, it's how you finish it. Looks like they are setting something up between Quinn and Christine (Courtney Ford). Nice. The last thing I saw Courtney in was Parenthood. I hope they explain why Angel and Gianna broke up and don't keep me in the dark. And while they are at it, they better explain when, why and how he and Maria hooked up.

Remains To Be Seen

Not a whole lot happened here. The entire episode was basically Dexter trying to remember where he had hidden the body from previous episode. After his car accident and trip to the hospital, it became a race to find the body before someone else stumbled across it. Something looks to be brewing between Dex and Quinn, especially after Dex caught him red handed stealing money from a crime scene. Everyone raves that Season 4 is the best. So far the episodes haven't wowed me like I was expecting. Then again, I probably am spoiled after last season.

Blinded By The Light

Now we are starting to roll here. This felt more in line with a typical Dexter episode. It's funny having to watch Dexter try to get use to being domesticated with family life and still trying to satisfy his urges. What makes this one even funnier is that he gets roped into joining the neighborhood watch which is something he basically does anyway, but now it's to serve those that live in his neighborhood rather than for personal reasons.

It didn't take long before Deb started questioning her relationship with Anton and with Lundy in the mix, we can pretty much see where this is going. Her complaining to Dex that Anton is always "around" and that she needs her space to function tells me their relationship is about to come to a screeching halt. It's going to be all for naught because I have a bad feeling that Lundy will meet his end at the hands of the Trinity Killer, which would leave Deb alone....again.

Dex Takes A Holiday

Really good episode with one hell of a cliffhanger. I called it. I just didn't think it would happen so soon into the new season. I had it pegged for a the season finale. When Lundy and Deb walk out to the parking lot and kiss, I could feel the dread in the air, a sense of foreboding doom. So, it was no shock to me that Lundy gets shot. What was shocking was that Deb also gets dropped by the gunmen. We don't see who fired the shots, but it's pretty clear that it's the Trinity Killer. Well, Deb is most likely alive, but I can't say the same about Lundy. Bummer. I liked the character. Keith Carradine is/was fantastic in the role.

Also interesting was the cat and mouse game between Dexter and the Cop who murdered her own family. She was cold and heartless and had zero remorse for what she did. I thought it was pretty scary that he can read into people so well that he could predict her behavior and hide in his own house and wait for her to come to him. Freaky.

Dirty Harry

Before watching this episode, I went back over and over in my head trying to piece some things together and Lundy and Deb getting shot didn't make sense. The assailant can't be the Trinity Killer, it doesn't fit his M.O. And I don't think it's the Vacation Murderer either, well, not who the police have pointed their fingers at as the one. Nope, I'm pretty sure that the Vacation Murderer is the news reporter Christine. She kills to bascially create sensational news stories that she can capitalize on. Well, that's my theory anyway.

The scene with Deb and Dexter in the parking lot was particularly powerful. Watching Deb fall apart was breathless. It was soul crushing and heartbreaking. Jennifer Carpenter who plays Deb is a fantastic actress and has always been my favorite character on the show. Great twist at the end and one that I'm kicking myself for not even thinking of. So when it's revealed that the Trinity Killer has a family, wife and kids, I was definitely surprised. We were led to believe that he was a 'Lone Wolf'. Turns out, he is JUST like Dexter.

If I Had A Hammer

Based on the first few episodes of Season 4, I didn't think that Arthur, aka the Trinity Killer and Dexter would cross paths so soon. And I certainly didn't think that they would bond over common ground of having a family and hiding their deep dark secret. Watching their scenes together in this episode was was pretty cool. I just like seeing good actors working and playing off each other, elevating their craft to a higher level.

So now Dexter has given up his apartment and gotten his own little shack in the backyard. This has trouble written all over it. Something bad is definitely going to happen in the future for him and the family. My guess is that Arthur finds out who and what Dexter is and will break into the shack to retrieve incriminating evidence.....his hammer.

FYI, the last thing I was expecting was to see the Trinity Killer is a Preacher. It's like Footloose all over again.

Okay, I have given it more thought, not about the Trinity Killer, but about the Vacation Murderer. They are pushing really hard to the viewers that Nikki and her boyfriend are responsible. But I have my doubts. I don't think it's them, even if the evidence suggest otherwise. The reason why I'm so suspicious is because Quinn is browbeating Deb trying to convince her that Nikki is the one that shot and killed Lundy. But it just doesn't add up. If it was Nikki, then why didn't she kill Deb and steal her money as well? The killer obviously sparred Deb for a reason.

And why do you spare someone life? Because you have an emotional connection to that person. So, that kinda rules out Christine because she has no relationship with Deb. That leaves one person....Quinn. It doesn't explain why Quinn killed Lundy, but it does make sense that he would spare Deb, his partner's life. And if he can convince Deb that Nikki is the Vacation Murderer, then the investigation would end and Quinn would be in the clear.

The other thing that makes me think that Quinn is the Vacation Murderer is that he lives a lavish lifestyle with Rolex's, Cadillac's, etc....stuff that he can't afford on a cop's salary. Plus, we have already seen him stealing money from a crime scene. But then again, this all screams 'red herring". And why are this red herrings? To get me off the idea of Christine being the killer. Bah!

Slack Tide

It was only a matter of time before Dexter  f u c k e d  up and killed an innocent man because he was convinced he was "guilty". Although he showed some remorse at the end, I wonder how much this will affect him in the foreseeable future. Will it cloud his perception of Arthur? Will it make him think twice about killing him? And speaking of Arthur, who did he make that coffin for? He has already done his "Cycle of Three", so it's not going to be for any of those victims. Does this mean that he is on to Dexter and knows about him? Hmmm.... The deer scene was interesting in revealing something about Arthur. He can kill innocent people, but nearly comes to tears when he runs over a deer and can't bring himself to put it out of its misery. I suspect that he has multiple personalities and doesn't know one from the other.

Now Quinn had to turn into Doakes by tailing Dexter to the Nite Club. We all saw what happened to Doakes when he got close and discovered Dexter's secret. The same is gonna befall Quinn unless he gets sidetracked and moves onto something else. Not likely.

Road Kill

Well, now Deb is catching on and seeing that I am right in that there is no way that the Trinity Killer shot her and that it's someone in the range of 5 feet tall. Hmmmm....who happens to be close to that height? BAM! It's Christine. I knew it! Now just prove me right!!! As for the rest of the episode, all of it made me a nervous wreck. I kept waiting for one or the other or both Dexter and Arthur to finally snap. The ending when Dex saves Arthur from jumping off the building was in a way comical when those around him are applauding and congratulating him for saving his life. Man, if they only knew......

Rita gets drunk and flirts with her neighbor and from where I'm sitting is on the verge of having an affair. If it goes down this road, we know how its gonna end and Dex isn't gonna be happy about it. So, does having an affair fit into "Harry's Code"? Is it something that can be justified by Dex should he kill him for sleeping with his wife? I think having already killed an innocent man, he will start to blur that line more and more, disregarding the code.

Hungry Man

Whoooooooooooooooooooooa! Talk about the greatest Thanksgiving episode ever! That was intense and the twist at the end just absolutely floored me! When Deb finally sees that something doesn't add up regarding how Christine could have known details about her shooting, and there is a knock on Christine's door, I was expecting to see Deb there to confront her. But when she opens the door to reveal Arthur, I said to myself "he's gonna kill her for.....whatever reason". But to have her blurt out "Hi, Dad" is something I NEVER saw coming. Wow.

And that's just all the "minor" stuff for the episode. The best was Dexter having Thanksgiving dinner with Arthur's family and finding out that they are more or less prisoners in their own house. It was very revealing and when Jonah finally snaps and tells his Dad what he really thinks of him....it was awesome. This is the dinner from hell and when Dexter finally gets out of there and returns home to his own family, I felt very relieved as he did. Rita's got some 'splainin' to do now that she kissed her neighbor, Elliot. Unbeknownst to her or anyone else, Masuka saw the whole thing. It's clear that he will be the one that has to tell Dexter what is going on.

This is by far the best episode of this season. Powerhouse performances. The season is really shaping up to be an amazing one. I was premature to say otherwise based on the first couple of episodes.

Lost Boys

That was intense. I knew in the end that Arthur would escape and live another day. He has to. There's two more episodes to fill in. Duh. But I didn't think they would catch onto Christine that fast. As a matter of fact, I was pretty sure that she would end up dead at the hands of her father, especially when he told her he would stop by her place later that night. Well, that didn't happen. In the words of Deb's potty mouth, she is one smart mother s h i t f u c k  genius. Ya gotta love the mouth on her.

The face-off between Dex and Arthur at the end was electric and when he tossed the boy into the cement, I was.....GAH!!! What the hell! In the end Dex prevails, but not before Arthur disappears into the night. My guess is that he will now go after Deb since Christine confessed everything to him.

This season has a serious shot at being the best season yet. Still need to see how it plays out first though.

Hello, Dexter Morgan

That was one ass kicking mother  s h i t  f u c k  awesome episode!!! The last scene was......

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

When Dexter and Arthur do that slow-mo walk to where they come face to face in the Police Station, I nearly  p i s s  myself. It was like watching Rocky Balboa and Clubber Lang squaring off for the final showdown. I CANT'T WAIT to see what happens next! Arthur's got some serious balls to walk into the Station to confront Dexter like that. The entire episode was crazy good. The cat and mouse game the two were playing the entire time was thrilling. I didn't know who would get the better of the other. I don't know how Dexter isn't in a mental institution from having to juggle so many personalities, especially in this episode. A Father, Brother, Husband, Serial Killer and "Kyle". So much stuff went down in this one.

Christine is one messed up chick. I thought Deb knew that she was the one that shot her and Lundy given that they had discovered the height of the shooter earlier. But I was wrong in thinking that because it didn't make sense for Deb to walk into Christine's home without any kind of backup. I was literally thinking "this is the dumbest thing you could ever do because she is going to pull a gun on you", which is exactly what she does. She pulls the gun out and then......blows her own brains out after confessing that her father is the Trinity Killer and that she was the one that shot and killed Lundy and shot Deb.

Dexter was a busy boy, planting all that evidence to make it look like the Trucker was the Trinity Killer, all in the hopes to have that one last confrontation with Arthur. Sheesh! I was bit surprised that Rita confessed to kissing Elliot. I thought they were going to drag that arc out a bit longer and keep Masuda twisting in the wind of whether or not to tell Dexter about what he saw. Guess not. I did enjoy Dexter knocking Elliot on his ass though. There was even a moment of levity when Angel and Maria were able to stick to their boss who was trying to get them fired for having an in-office romance, by turning the situation into a positive by getting married. Haha.

One last episode. Saving the Season Finale for tonight to watch. This has been a fantastic season!!!!!! Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

The Getaway

I am exhausted after watching the Season Finale. Wow. Just......wow!! Whereas the Finale for Season 3 was kind of a letdown, this one was not. It left me reeling and out of breath and then the cliffhanger just absolutely floored me. I did not see that coming because I just assumed the Rita and Harrison got out of the City in time and that they were safe. But after Dexter played her voicemail on his Cell Phone, I knew that something was wrong. With Rita dead in a pool of her own blood in the bathtub, it's unclear to me if she killed herself or if the Arthur got in one last kill before Dexter caught up with him on the side of the road. I can't see how he would have had time to do so since he was on the run. But Rita seemed content and truly happy at the end, so killing herself makes no sense. I am remembering that when Arthur did a search online for 'Dexter Morgan', he got a hit on his home address, which he wrote down. So, I am confident that he did in fact killed Rita, just like all the other bathtub murders. I'm refraining from doing any online search myself to remain spoiler free till I can get a hold of Season 5 on DVD.

The other bombshell was of course Deb finally completing the puzzle about her father Harry and Laura Moser and discovering that Brian Moser aka The Ice Truck Killer and Dexter were brothers. But that's all she knows. For now. Her confessional when she tells Dexter what she knows was very powerful and heartbreaking at the same time and had me holding my breath the entire time. No wonder I'm totally exhausted.

Just like Jimmy Smits role last season, John Lithgow turned in an amazing, powerful performance and just absolutely shattered my perception of him. It's going to be very hard to look at him the same way. He just annihilated his goody two-shoes persona. I really hope he got an Emmy Nomiation and win for his role here. He absolutely deserves it.

Dexter (Season 4)

Oksy, I get why Season 4 is considered the best, because it is the best season I've seen so far. I really didn't think anything could top last season with Jimmy Smits, but boy was I ever proven wrong here. John Lithgow OWNED it here and the pacing of the entire season was exactly what it needed to be to build up the the Finale in such a grand way. And I have to tip my cap to Jennifer Carpenter, who season after season gives amazing performances that usually end up tugging the heart strings. Last, but certainly not least, Michael C. Hall was brilliant here, channeling so many different personalities and doing it with such conviction just goes to show what an amazing actor he is.

I HIGHLY recommend this as a BUY!!!! You MUST OWN THIS!!

Can't wait to get Season 5. I don't have any idea where it's gonna go from here. But my biggest concern is the inevitable letdown to follow an amazing season. I just don't want it to crash and burn because the first four seasons have been top notch all the way through.
