So I finally got around to checking out District 9 based on all the rave reviews. I've heard so much good stuff about this movie that my interest was at an all time high. And then the movie started and for the first 30 minutes I was bored to tears. What is this? A documentary style film? Propaganda film? Sci-Fi film? I was literally thiiiiiiiiiis close to turning it off and then something crazy happened. It turned into a "Hollywood" blockbuster. It was very subtle because you don't see it coming and then after it happens, you're completely sucked into the movie that you don't even realized that it has changed from one genre to the next.

The longer you watch District 9, the more invested you become and by the end you are rooting for both the Alien (Christopher) & his kid to make it while Wikus  helps them escape by staying back to face off against the Military at the expense of being able to "fix" his own problem regarding his alien transformation.

This was a hella good movie and is a definite Buy.

Where's Mac's 2 cents on this? This is right up your Sci-Fi alley.
