Duel
Collector's Edition

Trailer

Duel is so unrealistic! There is no way in hell that anyone that is being terrorize and pursued by a 'Faceless Driver' in a Semi / Rig can go the entire way without uttering any obscenities or flipping him the bird!! Anyone in their right mind, including Monks would be 'What the f*ck! Leave me the f*ck alone! What the f*ck is your problem? F*cking die already! F*ck, f*ck, f*ck!" Hahaha. All kidding aside, I know this obviously was a TV movie and had to meet the ratings boards standards. But still. In spite of this, I absolutely love this movie. The 'plot' is about as basic as you're gonna get, and in the hands of Steven Spielberg, he took a simple idea and made it work so well. It's clear that you can see that Spielberg had a lot of 'Alfred H i t c h c o c k ' working throughout the movie, but ramped up with energy with exceptional camera angles and quick cut editing.

The movie isn't perfect. If there is one thing I don't like is that Dennis Weaver's inner monologue becomes inaudible at times to the point of not have a clue what he is saying. If it weren't for the Subtitle Track / Closed Caption, I would NEVER know what the f*ck he was saying!!!! Every time I watch Duel, I still get a kick out of seeing Steven's biggest career blunder on screen and that's when we literally see him in the reflection of the Phone Booth. Anyway, I highly recommend this as a Buy.

I didn't know this movie was for TV.

Now it makes sense.

This might have been one of the last videotapes I ever bought (if you don't count my emergency VHS of Die Hard from a couple months ago).  I don't remember the last time I saw this sucker though.

Didn't Richard Matheson write this script?
