Fast Five - Extended Edition

Trailer

Best

Furious

Ever!!!

Holy s h i t , that was AWESOME!! Fast Five is one of best Action Movies I've ever seen and certainly the best in the last 15 years if not longer. Where do I start when describing this to someone? First off, Fast Five is basically a reboot of the franchise to take it in a new direction, which is something they definitely had to do in order to guarantee its survival as a franchise. While watching the movie, it dawned on me that it was less about street racing and more about a straight up Heist flick. And anyone that knows me knows that I loooooooove Heist flicks and this one was  f u c k i n g  insane! Insanely good!!! Don't be misled here, there are car chases throughout the movie, but there is really only one drag race though.

But what makes this drag race in particularly enjoyable is who's involved in the race. If you haven't heard by now, the 5th installment brings together every player from the first four films. Of course we have Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster on board. But also showing up for the ride is Tyrese Gibson and Ludacris from 2 Fast 2 Furious , Sung Kang from The Fast And The Furious: Tokyo Drift , Gal Gadot from Fast & Furious. And rounding it out they, even brought back Matt Schulze from The Fast and the Furious, which I was really surprised to see myself. Really cool.

But the kicker in this already kick ass assembly of actors and actresses is the addition of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. If you ever want to know what cool personified looks like on the Big Screen, it's him as Luke Hobbs, a bounty hunter sent in by the US Government to track and apprehend both Dom and Brian. Dwayne OWNS every scene that he is in and the smackdown between him and Vin Diesel was off the hook. I felt every punch that was being landed by both. It was brutally good. And that's not even the best part about the movie.

The shootout was electric as the gang gets ambushed and then has to fight their way out. That's not even the best part. The best part is what the entire movie is leading up to: The Heist of the Vault.  S h i t , man. Watching that vault taking out EVERYTHING in sight left me giggling like a little school girl on Xmas morning. I couldn't stop smiling and laughing and hollering, all at the same time. So good! It's this generations version of The Blues Brothers when it comes to demolishing every Police Squad Car in sight. Seriously, this is one of the best Action movies ever. EVER!!!!!

Highly recommend this as a Buy. Anyone that doesn't Buy this is on crack.

Also, stay to the end of the credits for one last cameo, which sets up the forth coming 6th installment. This little twist gets it's own spoiler alert......

On December 20, 2011, Diesel confirmed that Fast Six would be split into two parts, with writing for the two films occurring simultaneously. On the decision, Diesel said:

We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages...The studio said, 'You can't fit all that story in one damn movie!'

On February 15, 2012, Johnson confirmed that Fast Six would begin filming in May 2012, with some of the production to take place in the United Kingdom and Germany. Johnson stated that the two intended sequels would no longer be filmed simultaneously because of weather issues in filming locations, and that production on Fast Seven would only begin after the completion of Fast Six

Not only do we get Fast Six, but we get Fast Seven too!!

Having just watched Fast Five again tonight, I had to comment that it's better watching the entire series in back to back nights instead of over a longer stretch of time.

Also, I forgot to mention in my original post about Fast Five in that I thought the producers dropped the ball by not including Sean Boswell (Lucas Black) in the movie. I was certain that when the gang was having a difficult time with their drifting to "outrun" the surveillance camera that they would finally call in Sean to add to the team. But that never happened. It was only researching about why Lucas Black never appeared that I discovered the official timeline of the series. What I learned is that even though Tokyo Drift is the third film in the series, its place in the timeline comes at the end. So, it looks like this:

The Fast And The Furious
Turbo Charged Prelude to 2 Fast 2 Furious (Short Film on DVD)
2 Fast 2 Furious
Los Bandoleros (Short Film on DVD)
Fast & Furious
Fast Five
The Fast and the Furious 6 (Working Title as of now. Probably will go with Fast Six....or not)
The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

With the Timeline established, it makes perfect sense why he wasn't ask to join in Fast Five. His story has yet to be "told". I've read that if and when "Fast 8" is made, that is when his character would conceivably join the cast.
