Continuing onward with another High School flick, I decided to bust out one of the best in the genre. What can I say about Fast Times at Ridgemont High that hasn't already been said a million times before. I remember the first time I saw this when it first came out and it was definitely racy at the time and for such a young kid at the time. Today, not so much. There are 3 things that immediately come to mind whenever you mention the title of the movie: Phoebe Cates, Sean Penn and the All-Star Cast.

Phoebe Cates. Wow. I was just beside myself the first time I saw her. The pool scene. Sh*t, it was the most talked about thing at my school for such a long time. We could NOT talk about her getting out of the pool in slow motion and taking off her top. For us, this was basically a coming of age moment and it's forever burned into our brains. Sean Penn. Has there ever been another actor more perfectly cast in any role? As Jeff Spicoli, he basically created a character that has been aped for the last 35 years and no one has come close to replicating his iconic performance. As much as I love Phoebe's boobs in this, Sean steals the movie. A lot has been said about the young cast that would eventually go on to take Hollywood by storm. This cast was stacked from the get go: Sean Penn, Phoebe Cates, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Judge Reinhold, Eric Stoltz, Anthony Edwards, Forest Whitaker, Nicolas Cage, Brian Backer and Robert Romanus. Let's not forget about Ray Walston as Mr. Hand, who was the perfect foil to Spicoli.

I have more to say about the movie, but for now I will leave you with a recommendation of a Must-Buy. It's a DVD I will never give up. I won't even let anyone borrow it. Get your own damn copy!!

You have not transformed into a man until you have witnessed Phoebe pool scene. All those dudes before this movie... Still just boys.
