Flightplan (2005)

My Jodie Foster marathon is still ongoing. Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Flightplan is another one of her films that's been on my to-watch list since it came out and let me tell ya, this more than delivered for me. It was f*cking awesome! Sh*t, this is one fantastic thriller that totally spun itself in a completely different way than I thought it would be. I'm not sure how this was marketed back in 2005, but all I remember of this movie was the trailer all those years ago and remember saying to myself, "oh, it's The Sixth Sense....on a plane". After that, I never really made this a primary objective of mine to see.

So, watching the movie now, I was totally caught off guard when it went from what I thought was going to be a straight up 'supernatural' type of movie into an Action Thriller and I couldn't have been happier with the result. Why? Well, in the first half of the film, thinking it was still "The Sixth Sense", it started to dawn on me what a horrible way to end a movie.

There is something profoundly uplifting seeing a Mother fight tooth and nail to rescue her child and is why I think the movie as a whole works as well as it does. I'm still scratching my head why this movie has been received poorly. Do not listen to a word they say. Paid film critics don't know sh*t and never come at a movie unbiased. This is absolutely worth a Rent. For me personally, I will gladly Buy this myself for my own DVD Library. Highly recommend this. One last thing, just like Panic Room, the bulk of this movie takes place in one location. And just like Panic Room, I would say that I was expecting at the end than what we get. But I still came away from this satisfied and does not take way from this being a nail-biting thriller in every sense of the word. More incentive to see this movie, it's got Sean Bean and Erika Christensen in it as well.
