Forrest Gump: Special Collector's Edition

Trailer

For me, Forrest Gump is one of the best films of all time and to this day I still get the same feeling I got from it the first time I saw it in the theater. It was unlike anything I had ever seen before in it's simplicity. If you break it down, there really isn't a typical story being told, other than we are following Forrest (Tom Hank) throughout his life and how he affects those around him. One of the jokes in the movie is that he more or less shaped some of the most iconic moments in American history from Elvis to Abbie Hoffman to Paul "Bear" Bryant to John Lennon to all those US Presidents and the slogans 'Sh*t Happens' and 'Have A Nice Day'. I can rave and rave about the movie, but there will always be people that say it's the worst movie ever. That's fine. I'm not here to change your mind and no one will be able to change mine. Personally, I don't get all the hate that gets dumped on the film. Sometimes it feels like it's almost become in vogue to trash the film, because they don't wanna look "uncool" by admitting they secretly like it. Whatever the reasons are, I don't care. I love the film and it has a lot going for it...for me, and that's all that really matters in the movies I connect to.

I've seen this so many times over the years and I still get choked up in certain parts of the movie. You know the scenes in question. How can you not? Unless your a freaking robot or something. Whatever it is in it's DNA, after watching the movie, I always feel better about life, the world, everything. I just come away from it feeling better about a lot of things and for that, this makes Forrest Gump one of the best movie-going experiences for me. I for one was happy that Forrest Gump won Best Picture of the Year and that Tom Hanks won Best Actor. I thought this role was even better than the role in played in Philadelphia. Props to Gary Sinise, Mykelti Williamson and Sally Field. I'm sure your saying 'what about Robin Wright'? Well, she did a great job here. But her character at times p*sses me off because of the way she treats Forrest. I want to shake her and tell her to snap out of it and stop leading him on.

Highly recommend this one. Yup, this is a definite Buy.

I’m more in the middle. I got all caught up in the hype when it was first released because I read the book before it came out and loved it. Saw the movie and thought they did a great job of following the book. Then as time has gone on, I’m finding it’s an OK movie. There is truly some rollercoaster moments of emotions from love, happiness, excitement, crying, awkwardness, bravery, friendship, etc. Tom Hanks as a man who falls into all these incredible situations makes for an entertaining movie. I’ll watch it when it comes on, but not finding Forrest Gump on my list of movies to watch.

Top 10 Actors Recreated With Special Effects

Very entertaining Top 10 List that has Forrest Gump at #1, The Crow at #2 and Terminator Salvation at #3. With that said, personally I would have had The Crow taking the top spot easily.

You know, I didn't realize that Jim Hanks is in this movie too, in a couple of shots.  So technically they "re-created" Tom as well (Jim is also the voice of Woody in the ancillary Toy Story material).  And if you remember Tom's son popping up on Mad Men... isn't it nuts that they all sound exactly the same?

Not even a secret!

Jim Hanks appears in "I Know That Voice" and he looks just like his brother, too!  Outside of the bald head.  Hence the body doubling.

We're Never Getting A Forrest Gump 2 And This Is Why

Thank God a sequel was never made. The Plot Points are absolutely horrendous. I'm a huge fan of the movie we got....but based on what the script was for the proposed FG2, I would not even bother to watch it. Seriously, what was going through Eric Roth's mind to even turn in such a sh*tty story/script. Sheesh!

Evidently the original book isn't that good either, the movie elevated the material with Tom Hanks, great direction, and a massive dose of nostalgia.
