From Dusk Till Dawn (Season 2 - 2015)

Trailer

I'm a big fan of Season 1, but a lot of that had to do with it just being an expanded version of the movie. Even though it was fun, you always knew exactly where and how Season 1 would end. The big question for me was just what Season 2 would be able to do. Could it actually stand on its own two feet and make its own mark? For all intents and purposes, this is really the first season for the series and it's why I was very gung-ho to dive into this one again. Unfortunately there are a few problems that undercut what is actually a decent story-line. I have 3 big issues with this season and it has to do with acting, writing and motivation. There are more actors in this season that just absolutely sucked in their line delivery. I expect it from newcomers new to the craft, which there is great abundance of here, but I was shocked at how bad the acting was coming from 'name actors' as well as from the series leads. The dialogue also was woefully bad more times than it should be. It was so on-the-nose that I kind of felt insulted that the writer has very little confidence in the viewer to actually be able to follow along. The last thing that rubbed me the wrong way had to do with character motivation and continuity errors. One example is that Scott is chasing Kate and has to stop dead in his tracks because he runs into the sunlight and has to duck back into the shadows because he is starting to burn up. Yet, a few scenes later you see him walking to the RV under the sunlight with no protection. Seriously, WTF! And no, I don't consider a hoodie to be enough to protect him. His face was still exposed. Now, what that said, the story itself is interesting and if you can get past these issues I mentioned, you should enjoy it for what it is. Also, a lot of guest stars show up. Some expected (Danny Trejo) and some that just had me scratching my head. Demi Lovato? Really? How did that come about? Anyway, worth a Rent and yes, I'm looking forward to Season 3.

Hmmm, where did the story line come from for this season? A new direction or more of the same?

For the most part it's different from Season 1, although they do trade the  T i t t y  Twister for a different venue when it comes to a place where the Vampires can feast on their patrons. Everything else is an all new direction.
