Slumdog Millionaire

Trailer

Slumdog Millionaire is the perfect example of how to reveal character that actually serves the story. Yes, in the way the film (screenplay) is structured, there really is only way to reveal what makes Jamal (Dev Patel) tick. By tying the answers of questions on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire directly to key moments in his life, we learn an incredible amount of information about not just him, but his brother Salim (Madhur Mittal) as well as the love of his life Latika (Freida Pinto). Stylistically, the movie is Aces in my book. Danny Boyle did a fantastic job with everything in this. The Direction, the visual look, the editing, and the most surprising thing for me....the music. Not just the soundtrack, which just absolutely kicks major ass, but the score as well. I can't forget to mention the screenplay. Perfectly.....more like brilliantly written. But what I really love is that you really don't know what the movie is at first. Is it a Thriller? A Mystery? A Romance? It's actually all that and more. You get your money's worth.

It took a long time for me to get around to finally checking this movie out and it was well worth the incredibly long wait. It delivered in ways that I never thought this one would. Yeah, I've heard nothing but rave reviews from friends and critics alike, but I tend to take those reviews with a grain of salt, especially when it's universally appealing to the masses.

Amazing cast. Every single actor in the movie were all charismatic in their respective roles. Freida Pinto as Latika is a knockout. I just now made the connection with her also appearing in Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes. And I can't forget to mention Anil Kapoor as the host of the game show. He was great. This is definitely a Buy for sure. I will hit the second hand stores tomorrow and see about picking up not only a copy of the DVD, but the soundtrack as well.
