Game of Thrones (Season 6)

Redband Trailer

Season 6 was definitely better paced then the previous season, but to be fair to Season 5, it doesn't doesn't give us the triple threat of episodes that had everyone buzzing about during hiatus. But that's not to say that the final 3 episodes for Season 6 weren't good. They absolutely were. But I gotta start at the obvious. Season 5 ended with the murder of Jon Snow. That's all anyone would focus on and rightly so. I'm glad that it picks up where we left off last because I NEEDED to know what the f*ck would be his fate. I kinda figured that the Red Woman would have a hand in bringing him back to life, but I wasn't sure if he would be suffering some altered personae because of it. Okay, let's dive into the second to last episode of this season. One of the greatest on-film battles I have ever seen. It was insanely uncomfortable to watch and that was due in large part to the editing and the choreography of the fight scenes. The trampling of Jon had me gasping for air. There are some incredibly shots that left me breathless, one in particular that had Jon , with sword at the ready, facing off a thousand oncoming horses and soldiers, coming after to him. Given how easily this show kills off characters, I really didn't know what to expect. Awesome shot.

As I said, this is THE episode to watch this season. It has been leading up to the confrontation between Jon, Sansa and Ramsay Bolton for the better part of 2 years and the wait was well worth it. The beat-down that Jon gives Ramsay was brutal. You felt every punch to the face. But it was the manner in which Ramsay finally meets his demise that was truly rewarding. Having it come at the hands of his own attack dogs was very satisfying for sure. Hated to see Iwan Rheon go, but it was long over due. I was getting impatient. What a great actor. The Season Finale was also very memorable in how Cersei Lannister was able to rise up once again to reclaim the Iron Throne. An improbable feat given how everything was stacked against her. As before...more big characters perish....or just jumped out of the window.

We finally get the reveal of who the 'Frankenstein Monster' is that is protecting Cersei. It's none other than the reanimated Gregor Clegane, aka The Mountain. I wasn't entirely sure who it would be because it was never really clear as to what they were doing and who they were putting back together. Maybe they were clear and I just didn't catch it as I should have. Speaking of Clegane, just as last season, we get even less of The Hound. I really want his character to come back in a big way to make up for the lack of screen time. I dug the Arya Stark story-line, although her role was a bit smaller this time. But they are setting her for a big pay-off now that she has to skills need to hunt down those that have betrayed the Stark name and family. Still not a whole lot of Brienne of Tarth. Sigh.

Really like where they are taking Bran's story-line. The scenes involving his ability to see events from his families past was very illuminating, most notably the origin and story of Hodor. Now it makes perfect sense as to why he would only say 'Hodor'. He was constantly reminding himself of what his destiny would be...to 'Hold the door'. Brilliant episode and scene. But the biggest revelation of Bran's vision was that of Jon's real parents being Lyanna Stark and someone NOT Ned, but Rhaegar Targaryen. This sh*t just got real interesting because it changes a lot of what we have been led to believe. Anyway, love this season and highly recommend this as a Buy.
