Ghost Town

Trailer

Even though I am a huge fan of Ricky Gervais, I went into Ghost Town with very low expectations. The idea of Gervais as a romantic lead in a Rom-Com was something that I couldn't buy into completely. After watching Ghost Town, I still find it a stretch that he can carry a movie as the one that gets the girl at the end. This isn't a knock against him as an actor at all. I'm just use to a certain type of Gervais is all. Being the fan that I am, I of course respond to his sarcastic style of wit as best exemplified in The Office, interviews and the Golden Globes then him courting a woman.

So, how is the movie? Surprisingly good. Way better than I thought it would be. Yes, there is that classic comedic talent of Gervais throughout the movie and it is the best part about the film. But what I didn't expect was to have some heartfelt scenes near the end, especially when he is helping the dearly departed 'Ghost' move on to the other side. I actually got teary eyed as these scenes.

With a cast that also includes Greg Kinnear, Téa Leoni, Alan Ruck, Aasif Mandvi and Kristen Wiig, this is definitely worth a Rent.

Is this the one with her having a huge dog, and he is about to throw up?

I don't remember to much more though, except his signature sarcasm.
