Has it really been 12 years since Gladiator first exploded on the scene? This another favorite movie of mine and maybe because I have seen it so many times, I just lost track of how long ago this movie came out. Even watching it tonight it still holds up. It's an amazing film from everyone involved. The movie has been around long enough that everyone has seen it at least once so I will skip the usual praise of Ridley Scott , Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix, not because they don't deserve mention here, but because their work speak for itself. So I will point out some "lesser" performances. Both Richard Harris and Oilver Reed did their profession justice and turned in stellar performances. It's just a shame that Reed wasn't around to see the end result of the film.

I have to say that with such a top notch cast, my favorite has to be Djimon Hounsou as Juba. Most have viewed him as Maximus' sidekick. I never looked at Juba that way. He is basically the manifestation of Max's subconscious, the voice of reason to keep him on target to fulfill his goal before moving on to reunite with his family. Juba's quiet demeanor was a great constrast to the blood and gore that permeates Gladiator.

One last thing, I can't stand Commodus, who is the biggest p ussy ever. This guy is the most spineless, worthless POS put on the planet. The guy had no balls and some major Daddy and Sister issues. I always get a kick watching everyone in the movie basically ignoring his commands and request. He is definitely the Rodney Dangerfield of Rome.....'No Respect'.

Of course I'm gonna highly recommend this one. A definite Buy.
