H a n c o c k

Trailer

I went into this wanting to like  H a n c o c k  but ultimately came away very disappointed with the end results. I more or less stayed away from any spoilers and that included the trailer because I didn't want anything to ruin the surprise for me. But I guess it really didn't matter because even the writer(s) of this film didn't know what they were doing. They set up the premise of the story well and it could have anchored the rest of the movie had they stuck with the Superhero who is a raging alcoholic, hellbent on destruction of property and just doesn't give a  s h i t  what happens.

But then they started changing the story throughout, never seeing it through to the end before changing it up again. Even with these little annoyances, it was the 'mystery' that sinks the film in the end. There is no need to go into great detail about it because it's not all that compelling to begin with anyway. Even with all of these little peeves of mine, there are some pretty entertaining Set Pieces, but even those are short and never drawn out to really have you going 'WOW', although I did enjoy the fight scene in the hospital for sure.

This definitely isn't one of Will Smith's better films, but I would say this is a Rental if you check your brain at the door and try not to over-analyze the story too much,

I found it a little refreshing because of the 'attitude' aspect. Superhero's... drunk, used, abused, pissed off?

I barely remember the ultimate mystery, but like you, thought it was just OK at best.

If they had stuck with the "attitude" from the start, I think the movie would have been a lot better for sure.
