Resident Evil: Extinction - Special Edition

Trailer

I've heard the negative criticism of Resident Evil: Extinction by the majority of fans and non-fans alike. Although I agree with some of their gripes, I still found this one to be more enjoyable than Resident Evil and Resident Evil: Apocalypse. I thought maybe I had seen this before in it's entirety, but I haven't. I think I may have seen parts of Extinction while channel surfing and if that's the case, I would have turned it off not because it sucked, but because I don't watch anything unless I can see it from the beginning.

I think the reason why I liked this one more than the first 2 films has to do with the "Mad Max" bent to the Zombie world. I also liked the twist on the sand covered Vegas, although I would have liked to have gotten more back story about this since it was mentioned earlier that it was a haven for Zombies. So, getting more information about that would have helped the story. Another cool thing was the Raven's scene, a page lifted directly from  H i t c h c o c k 's  The Birds. But I think the most interesting thing about Extinction was the manifestation of Alice's (Milla Jovovich) telekinesis power. I've never played the video game before so this was a cool twist and I didn't know that this is where they were taking her character in the story.

This is definitely worth a Rent. Easily.

One minor complaint...or just something that reeeeeeeeeeally stuck out like a sore thumb; was the undeniable airbrushing of Milla Jovovich. Why? Seriously, why? Was this really necessary?

I need to pick this up... for keeps. I've grown to like it. I still think it's weaker than the original two, but still this is a new slant and very fun.
