Hit & Run

Trailer

One guess as to why I wanted to see Hit & Run and the last two guesses don't count. Watching Hit & Run was like watching Veronica Mars Vs. Parenthood with two alums from each show, but not paired up with the people you knew them from. You have Kristen Bell and Ryan Hansen from VM and you have Dax Shepard and Joy Bryant from PH .Throw in Tom Arnold, Kristin Chenoweth, Beau Bridges, David Koechner , Sean Hayes, Jason Bateman and the scene stealing turn from Bradley Cooper and you have a surefire hit, right? Wrong. Even with all this talent up on the screen, it can't disguise the fact that the story and the script is pretty weak in places.

Hey, I give Dax a lot of credit for writing, directing and editing the film. But I think this project was just a bit too much for him to handle and it shows. The movie as a whole is just okay for me. But there were some funny moments here and there, especially any scene involving Cooper, whether it was intentional or not, he was channeling Drexl, the character that Gary Oldman's pkayed to perfection in True Romance. As for the story itself, I really think it was nothing more than an excuse for Dax to drive fast cars all over the place. I swear it was like I was watching Grand Theft Auto. No, not the game, but Ron Howard / Roger Corman's GTA. Who here had a Deja Vu moment when Dax and Kristen drive that dune buggy onto the school campus? This scene was clearly a homage to Corvette Summer. Not sure if all of these nods were intentional of not or if they were coincidences. But it's unmistakable where they came from.

The movie is worth a Rent and nothing more.

Did you happen to notice that school they drove the buggy onto was Starfleet Academy?  Or that the big warehouse they drove through was the shuttlebay from Star Trek 2009 as well (or the time travel warehouse from Austin Powers 3?).

It's so funny to see the shots in the car and realize how TINY K-Bell is in there.  It almost looks like a hobbit shot.

Yea, this was a fair disappointment for me. Reading the cast list. Watching the Red Band Trailer was fun. But this movie is verrrrrry forgettable. This has personal project written all over it. Very forgettable. Until I just read Chips review, I remembered nothing but the punch in the face.

Outside of the language, I can't imagine anything particularly red-band-y about this flick.

Ya, that's pretty much it. Those words that make spine go crooked.
