Explosions. Car chases. Gun fights. Special FX. This is not what you would expect from a
Kevin Smith movie. But that's exactly what
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back is. It's a typical Hollywood flick and the most blantant attempt by Mr. Smith to satisfy the suits behind the movie. If your looking for a small, independent film, you're not gonna find it here.
I enjoyed
Stikes Back for all the celebs populating the movie and the return of all the
View Askew characters from
Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy and
Dogma. And if you pay close attention you will see and get a lot of the inside jokes, especially the best of the bunch being
Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season. Funny stuff here.
But with all these little golden nugget cameo's, the script and story falls flat. There is none of that witty dialogue from
Mr. Smith and once again,
Jay and Silent Bob revert back to being caricatures of themselves. I'm usually a fan of road trip movies. But this didn't really feel like one at all. It's nothing more than a series of sight gags as they make their way to Hollywood to stop the
Bluntman and Chronic movie from being made.
Even though I have this on DVD, I wouldn't say it's more than a
Rent. Only those that need to complete their
View Askew set, and are true die hard fans of
Mr. Smith should
Buy this.
