Well, I'm currently at work on a KISS project and felt I wanted to watch something KISS related, so I was checking out stacks and stacks of DVD's that I'm still working my way thru and came across KISS: Rock The Nation Live! which I had forgotten all about. It was a gift and I have not watched it in about 3 years.

All I remember about this, is that I had a very negative reaction to watching it. Prejudice came into play as it has Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer playing the roles of Peter and Ace. So obviously, I went into it as this is going to suck regardless.

So, tonight, holding the DVD in my hands, I decided I would go ahead and watch it. But this time I would try what Mac did with Queen Featuring Paul Rodgers, and go into this with no preconceived notions or expectations.

Based on the show, musicianship, spectacle, audio, video, set list, I came away from this with a better appreciation. Overall I would have given this DVD

But because of one annoying thing during the concert, it gets half a star less. During the show, we get 2-3 songs live, and then they cut away to a mini documentary about whatever. They do this 6 times thru out the concert. Personally I hated this, and hate it on other concerts as well (Sheryl Crow, I'm talking to you). I don't like being taken out of the concert-going experience with docs or intermissions. It would have been better served to just tie up all the mini docs into 1 long doc and use it as a bonus at the end of the show.

This is nothing more than a Rent.
