Let's Be Cops

You're either going to love Let's Be Cops, or you're gonna hate it. For me, I'm right in the middle. I think this movie is really only going to appeal to fans of New Girl, which I am a fan of. It's the chemistry between Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. on the show that I was counting on in the movie and in that aspect, it does deliver. Watching this, I felt like I was watching a film version of New Girl somewhat. Look, Let's Be Cops isn't an original idea and it's juvenile, but I enjoyed it for what it was: mindless fun. I think it's worth a Rent. I'd probably watch it again if I came across it on TV. Was really hoping to get cameos from Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris.

I dunno. I have no clue to what new girl is. I rather enjoyed this buddy cop flick. For mr there is no background to the actors. They just suddenly appeared in a movie that made me laugh.

I didn't enjoy this... but I got some good note off of it, so I guess that's a minor victory.

I just couldn't wrap my head around how ludicrous the buy-in is, no rational people would impersonate cops for fun like that.  Every time Jake Johnson pushed further into "I bought a cop car," "let's do a stakeout" etc, it pulled me more and more out of the movie.  They shouldn't have had time to think, it should have been a Midnight Run thing where they're mistaken for cops by the bad guys and things start going downhill, sort of like "See No Evil Hear No Evil" or "Midnight Run."

And Nina DoBrev was barely in the movie, she barely contributed anything, that's the "chick role" that I hate.  She should have been like a material witness to a crime or something and hung around with them, maybe she gets captured and they have to get her back... she needed to be INVOLVED in the d*mn story!  And not just cause we need more footage of her in those short shorts, but because she's pretty much the only female character in the movie!

Oh, and I listened to the commentary for this movie, F*CK that commentary.  I expect a comedy movie commentary to be fun, at least, you gotta figure a movie full of funny people would have lots of anecdotes about pranks on the set or outtakes they couldn't use, or maybe have the cast get drunk and joke around while the movie plays, SOMETHING.  Nope, it's just the director explaining what's happening on screen.  Ugh.
