Alien
2 Disc Special Edition (Quadrilogy Set)

Trailer

There's some unique, strange, odd and really cool about being able to watch Alien with Prometheus still percolating in my mind. I didn't think it would alter my viewing experience as much as it did. There are small details that I'm suddenly able to connect the dots that weren't readily obvious while watching Prometheus. If you haven't already done so, you should definitely watch Prometheus and then watch Alien and see how it doesn't alter your perception of the film.

Anyway, I love, love, love Alien. The master Ridley Scott set the benchmark pretty damn high and ushered in a type of Sci-Fi as well as a Horror genre that many filmmakers as a whole have failed to recapture. Really, the only one that got it right was James Cameron with Aliens. The style, look and tone that Scott gives us is the mark of a true visionary. Think about all the Sci-Fi movies that came out before this one and what followed after the release of Alien and you will see just how influential the film is. One thing that this movie has going for it, no matter how many times I've seen it, it still delivers in the 'scare' moment. I'm pretty jaded when it comes to these moments and they never work on me. But it's funny that I've seen Alien a million times and I know the moment is coming and it still gets me every time. Go figure.

I don't know why I have never thought about this till just now, but has it ever been said just how fast an Alien matures? By that I'm referring to the length of time from the Chest Burst Alien scene of Kane (John Hurt) to the time that Brett (Harry Dean Stanton) meets his demise. I would say that it wasn't longer than an hours time, if not sooner to when they actively starting searching for the "Baby Alien".

The copy of the DVD I have is from the Quadrilogy Set and I highly recommend this as a Buy. Seriously, if you don't already own it, you're not a fan of the genre or even of movies.

And if you didn't know, sci-fi or horror was not in Scott's mind at all for his next project. I believe he was really wanting to do a western of some sort. This man has vision no matter what's thrown his way.

This is a game reunion, but I'm going to post it here for obvious reasons. The DLC alone has already changed my mind about diving in and getting the game. The character skins look AMAZING! Color me very impressed.

That's pretty awesome... not just that they got them all, but that it looks JUST like the movie.  We're getting into Ready Player One territory here.  Now imagine this baby on the Oculus.
