Sayid thought that by shooting Ben (and hopefully killing him) he would be able to avert all the bad things that are to come to pass 30 years later. Unbeknownst to him, Sayid shooting him actually starts the whole thing. With Jack refusing to help Juliet save Ben, it's up to Kate and Sawyer to take Ben to Richard Alpert. And by turning him over to 'The Others', Ben's future self is now in place and everything we have seen (Season 1-4) will now happen. Very good stuff here. I liked the argument between Hurley and Miles in how they are trying to dissect the "space time continuum" of Time Travel. The nod to Back To The Future was priceless.
