Mad Men (Season 4 - 2010)

Trailer

Not sure what it was, but the first few episodes seemed kinda off. Not saying it was bad....it wasn't. It might be that it's been awhile since I watched Season 3 and had to find my own personal groove to get back into the series. It didn't take long. I will say that by the last episode of Season 4, I was beyond hooked again. There was one thing that may have contributed to the fact that this season felt a lot different from the first three seasons and it was the fact that there was very little of January Jones during the first half of the season. She was surprisingly non-existent. Even though she got more screen time during the second half of the season, it still felt like she was MIA.

That's really my only minor complaint here. With that out of the way, I did like some of the new story lines they went with. Sally's was by far the most interesting because it was out of left field. I wasn't expecting her to be given a big arc as she was with her rebelling against her mother. The other half of this arc, and one that truly creeps me out is her friendship with Glen Bishop. He seriously creeps me out the way he tries to be all "Joe Cool" and "sophisticated" with Sally. Really curious to see where this story line goes.

Another story arc that I liked was seeing their Ad Agency more or less crashing and burning as they try to keep their business afloat once they start losing Clients. Nothing like having the rug pulled out from under you to see what people are really like. Who crumbles and who rises up to the top. As for Don Draper this season, it has been interesting. He's just a character, but there is absolutely nothing likable about how he treats women. I felt really bad for Faye Miller, who was there for Don, only to find out later he is getting married to someone else. That's low, man. Overall, a great ending to Season 4 after a "shaky" few episodes at the beginning. Definitely worth a Rent.
