It was because... first, I wasn't nuts about Snyder doing it, and I remember at the time hearing other people propose Superman and go into the same tropes and revisiting what came before, setting Superman in the 40s or trying to bring the 40s to the present, so I was just experimenting with how to take things in a different direction, see what I could do without having to obey everything that came before.

I rather like writing the movie before I see it, putting down what I'd like to see rather than be influenced by someone else's decisions.  It's helped me notice patterns I fall into and references I draw upon too much, which is very beneficial.  My big pre-write at the moment is probably Power Rangers, just in terms of scale, since I have four different ways that it could unfold.

I'm keeping those ideas to myself until I come up with something original that I can use the ideas for.  I usually only do this as an exercise, writing for the trashcan.  There's really no value in having a full proper script for a movie that I can't do anything with, so I don't spend too much time on them, just play with ideas if they strike me.
