Meet the Fockers

Trailer

Meet the Fockers is a pretty disappointing sequel to Meet The Parents. Tonight I finally knocked this one of my Must-Watch list. When I first heard that Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand were being cast in the role of The Fockers, I thought it was a very inspired choice. I couldn't think any other two people that would fit the role better. But then the movie hit and I heard nothing but bad things about it. Not so much them, but the movie as a whole.

Having just watched it now, this was really an embarrassing display for pretty much everyone involved. I couldn't believe that Hoffman would resort to characterization like that. He just came off as bizarre. I did however like Streisand a little bit more, but even her 'free spirited' nature was a bit much at times. Robert De Niro was Robert De Niro in this one, but not as funny as seen in the original flick. Ben Stiller really didn't have many funny moments either. Granted there were a couple of moments in the movie that did give me a chuckle. but nothing more than that.

As a whole, the script was all over the place and was incredibly long. For a Family Film that is a comedy, you expect a solid 90 minutes at most. I couldn't believe that this was almost 2 hours long. What's mind boggling is that they were able to get 2 hours out of a script that really didn't go anywhere. The other thing going against this one is that it basically rehashes the same plot from the first film. Definitely a Skip.

One of the big plot surprises was totally ruined for me because I saw the casting call before it came out, calling for-- well, you can guess.  I'm just amazed they FOUND that kid.

By the way, I remember seeing about two people from Reno 911 in the flick, is my memory correct?

Cash grab... But yea, surprised Streisand and Hoffman agreed to this.

I'm not surprised, the first one was enjoyable and made a buttload of cash, of course they signed up.

Though if we're talking cash grabs, we have to mention the complete abysmal crock that was the third flick.  Two was just disappointingly redundant, three was ****.
