Meet the Parents
Collector's Edition

Trailer

Meet the Parents is basically a paint-by-numbers Family Film, much in the same vein as Father Of The Bride. Only instead of Steve Martin, we get a very over protective father played by Robert De Niro as he goes mano-a-mano against Ben Stiller. These two are basically what keeps the movie moving forward. There are some great laugh out loud moments in this one that always gets me grinning from ear to ear. Strange that a movie with De Niro would give me those kinds of laughs and for Ben, this was more subtle, situational humor, nothing like his lowbrow humor that uses sight gags to get laughs.

Overall this movie has held up pretty well over the years. I for one never thought it could succeed after the initial viewing. I was wrong. I think it gets funnier each time I watch it. Definitely worth a Rent and it's a pretty good movie that you can actually sit down and watch with the family. Chalk this up as another Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson flick.

Is this the first or second one? The one where he describes milking the cats. I dunno, they all seem the same. This is the perfect vehicle for Stiller. But this also just was the beginning of showing Stiller has one style.

First one. Milking Cats. Stiller's has always had that one style of comedy that was born out of The Ben Stiller Show. Having said that, I actually think this is a more subdued performance by him compared to his more outlandish comedies like Zoolander, Starsky & Hutch, Tropic Thunder, etc...
