Mission: Impossible
Special Collector's Edition

Trailer

This is only the second time I've watched Mission: Impossible, the first time being back when it was out in the theater. My initial reaction to the movie then was not a positive one. I thought it was a mediocre film at best and certainly not on par with some of the better action flicks of the day. So, what about now? Meh. My same gripes still apply today. The opening is just way too slow and has no snap, crackle and pop that a movie like this should have. Although I did enjoy the train sequence a lot more this time around, it was still way too short to really give the viewer any kind of thrill or payoff.

This is a Rent at best. One thing that really stands out with this film is how "old" it feels. Talk about a dated time capsule. Seeing all the "state of the art" computers in the movie in today's climate makes it look like a dinosaur.

Uh, I bought it  ;)

I liked it. I was comparing it to the TV show, which I kinda liked, but still thought was cheesy. I thought Cruise and the crew brought some class to the concept.

So, just out of curiosity, what would you rate it? I really thought that the passage of time would make me like this one more. It didn't.

I'd give it a 3-1/2 stars.

Part of my reason for owning it, that it's part of trilogy... at the time. So watching anyone of them at my convenience was appealing. If it was just the original, I doubt I would have bought it.

But just watched it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it again. Now I need to break out 2,3 and 4. Probably this fall.
